DESCRIPTION

Very nice Civil War era Colt model 1860 that’s been made in 1861. Four screw frame and cut for shoulder stock, all acceptance stamps on parts present except the inspector's cartouche on grips, which likely has worn off—matching serial numbers except for the wedge. The grips are still in good condition for their age. Sharp barrel address and colt patent on frame, cylinder scene is starting to faint but overall present, patent dates and serial number on the cylinder are intense. Clean chambers and sharp rifling present for a cap ‘n ball pistol. Comes with an original civil war era belt, holster, ammo pouch and cap pouch. The holster is in good unaltered condition with visible Newark NJ marking, probably made by J. Davy&Co. Ammo pouch is in excellent condition, made by H.Davy&Co, and also shows a small script ‘US’ on the lower flap that is often paired with the inspection cartouche of TJ Shepard. Original belt buckle with arrowhead hooks, 41-inch belt with brass size adjustment clip in place. The contractor's stamp is there but unreadable due to wear and cracks…the US stamp is still perfect and visible above the contractor's authorisation. The Cap pouch is in excellent condition with the contractor's logo, under a magnifying glass, I can make out the company name of J. Davy&Co Newark, NJ. Overall a nice set for the Civil War collector.
